Carne Asada Quesadilla in Bellflower

Steak in a quesadilla is a different thing from steak in a burrito, and the Carne Asada Quesadilla at Omega Burgers shows why: chopped seasoned steak with melted cheddar cheese in a grilled flour tortilla, served with a side of lettuce, tomatoes, and 1000 island dressing.

The filling is just two things, steak and cheddar, so the steak flavor comes through more than it does in the burrito with its beans and salsa. The tortilla is grilled, so the cheddar melts into the steak and the outside gets a little color.

What makes it distinctly Omega is the side. Instead of salsa, it comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and 1000 island dressing, the same dressing that goes on the burgers. Spoon it onto the wedges or keep it separate.

It is a shareable plate for a family on the patio or a one-person lunch for someone from Kaiser Bellflower who wants protein without a bun. A combo includes small fries or a regular salad and a medium soda.
