National Dog Day at Omega Burgers: Outdoor Seating and a Full Hot Dog Menu

National Dog Day falls on August 26 every year. If you want to take your dog out for the day, the first thing a restaurant needs is outdoor seating, since you cannot have a patio visit with a pet somewhere that has no patio. Omega Burgers at 16310 Bellflower Blvd has indoor seating and an outdoor seating area, and its own website describes a place to relax outdoors on a sunny day. It also has a full hot dog menu, which makes the holiday an easy fit. This page covers what is confirmed, what is not, and what to order.

What is confirmed, and what is not

The outdoor seating is confirmed on Omega's own website. What is not posted anywhere on the menu or the site is a pet policy: whether dogs are allowed at every outdoor table, whether there is a section for them, or whether water is provided. Policies like this vary by restaurant and can change. Omega is not hosting a Dog Day event that we know of, so this page is not an event listing.

The simple step is to call (562) 920-1714 before you plan a visit around your dog, and ask what the current policy is. That is better than assuming a rule that is not written down.

The hot dog menu

Omega's Hot Dogs section gives you a real on-theme order, for the people at the table. The order page lists:

  • Hot Dog: a large, deep-fried frank on a toasted hot dog bun with mustard, onions and relish. See the hot dog page.
  • Hot Dog with Cheese: the same build with cheese.
  • Corn Dog: a large, deep-fried breaded turkey dog. See the corn dog page.
  • Chili Dog: a large, deep-fried frank on a toasted hot dog bun with Omega's homemade chili. See the chili dog page.
  • Chili Dog with Onions, Chili Dog with Cheese and Onions, and Chili Dog and Cheese: variations on the chili dog.

The plain hot dog, the corn dog and the chili dogs are each described as available as a combo, with small fries or a regular salad and a medium soda. The chili itself is explained in the homemade chili guide.

A safety note, not a menu recommendation

Chili, onions and heavily seasoned meats are not appropriate for dogs. Onions in particular are toxic to dogs. This page is about a human dining occasion, not a suggestion to share anything from the menu with a pet. If you want your dog to have a treat, bring one from home.

Beyond the hot dogs

The rest of the menu works just as well for a relaxed outdoor meal. A burger combo, a basket of fries, chili cheese fries to share or a shake all travel the same distance from the counter to the table. Browse the Side Orders and the shakes for ideas, or see the full guide to Omega Burgers.

Making it a full meal

A hot dog is a snack-sized order on its own, so most people build a meal around it. The plain hot dog, the corn dog and the chili dogs are each described as available as a combo with small fries or a regular salad and a medium soda. If you would rather share, add an order of fries or chili cheese fries for the table. Shakes finish the meal, with flavors including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and Oreo. Kids can have a Kids Hot Dog or Kids Corn Dog, each served with fries and a 12 oz. soda.

If you do bring your dog

Whatever the restaurant's policy turns out to be, a few basics apply anywhere. Bring a leash, bring your own water bowl, and keep your dog out of walkways and away from other diners' food. If the policy does not allow dogs at the tables, you can still order for pickup and eat at a nearby park or at home.
